I have wanted to write a UFC report for a while, not
really that into UFC so will probably be a case of just writing about the
fights I actually care about for the time being. This fight will see Sara
McMann is challenging Ronda Rousey for the UFC women’s championship. This fight
is set for 5, 5 minute rounds.
McMann is currently at this stage undefeated with 7 wins
under her belt, she is an Olympic silver medalist in wrestling which she won
at the 2004 Olympic games in Athens and has been a professional fighter since
2007, I think wrestling is a huge part of the UFC base, it will be interesting
to see how she manages to utilize it in this fight.
Ronda Rousey is the current UFC women’s champion and is
the self proclaimed “heel” in UFC, stating that everyone wants her to fail and
that she will continue to disappoint them. She has won all her fights at this
stage and has beaten 7 of her opponents in round 1 and to top that all her wins
at this stage have come from using the arm bar submission. She won a bronze
medal in judo at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing China. A good contrast to
the Wrestler opponent, the Judo should also provide an interesting challenge for
McMann.

Round 1
Both ladies come out swinging but McMann ends up backed
against the cage, however just as she fights out Rousey puts her back on the
cage wall, throwing the odd knee into the side of McMann, Rousey knees McMann
in the gut by the liver area and McMann drops down to the floor and the ref
stops the fight there.
At 1 minute 6 seconds into the fight Rousey retains her Bantamweight
women’s belt and for the 1st time not winning by the arm bar. Well
that wasn’t much of a fight really; entrances and announcements were longer
than the actual fight, a bit gutting really, had hyped myself up quite a bit
for this fight too, bet the paying crowd were a bit miffed too. Looking like
her next opponent will be Cat Zingano who is the current ranked #1 in the women’s
division after Rousey, so may be worth a watch when that fight happens.
